Pink Floyd - Animals Television Ad 1977

I really like this (lyrically brutal) Pink Floyd record quite a bit although I know it is not the favorite of many people.

Great television spot.

Despotism - 1946.....Or In Your Neighborhood Very Soon?

This is a public domain film made in 1946 by Encyclopedia Britannica Films and is well worth watching. Obviously after world war two people were very interested in this subject and for good reason. Or did you think they mention Hitler and Germany just by coincidence?

I think it is fairly obvious to many people that there is something very troubling, you could say, going on with the conservative movement in the U.S. today. Bob Altemeyer has done a lot of research on the subject of RWA's or Right Wing Authoritarians and has published a book about it online here if you wish to read it. John Dean used his research as the basis for his book Conservatives Without Conscience.

I highly recommend both books.

Zodiac - Movie Trailer

I grew up in the bay area and now currently live in Napa, CA where some of the movie is set and which is right next to Vallejo another one of the main locations of the movie, besides San Francsico, so it was quite different for me to see David Fincher's new film than for many people around the country. More like a documentary than a Hollywood film. Oh and it is quite good as well...even my wife liked it.

The Right Wing Loves John Lennon....

.....oh not really. But they do have the insanely bad taste to post a picture of Mike Stark posing with conservative fanatic Michelle Malkin (sorry I cannot make believe that she is in anyway "normal")and somehow imply that it is even in the same universe as Mark Chapman and John Lennon.

Go see for yourself.

Crooks and Liars has more on the story.

Being a huge music fan I can safely say a couple of things:

1) Michelle Malkin is no John Lennon.

2) Lennon would absolutely despise anyone who was even remotely like Malkin.
