Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys

A couple of days ago I bought the new Hal Willner produced recording Rogue's Gallery, featuring an eclectic mix of musicians both famous and not so famous singing just what the title suggests, over 40 different pirate ballads, sea songs and chanteys.

As you can imagine songs about cruel ship captains, men being lost at sea and in war never to come home again makes me think of our current affairs and the rogues who are in power at the moment.

That is why there is a picture of Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rice above and not a picture of the record cover.

Simple ain't it.

The record is great, by the way, although not for the faint of heart.
