From the first chapter of his career (before he landed in prison on drug charges) comes the Copperhead Road video from Steve Earle about a man from a family of bootleggers who comes back from the Vietnam war with a new plan in mind....to grow marijuana. A different kind of cash making enterprise than moonshine. Times change.

You can imagine how well this song went over in Nashville. Steve could care less though, he never was part of the mainstream country establishment anyway. By this point in his career he was sounding more like a pop/rocker along the lines of John Mellencamp than anything else.

Great songwriter and I like his politics too.
