80's Video Clip Week: John Foxx - Underpass

John Foxx was a founder and the original singer of Ultravox! before he left after three records to pursue a solo career in 1979. He spent the most of the year working on his first record, Metamatic, almost entirely by himself which was released in early 1980 and it contained the UK hit single Underpass. Metamatic is a true electronic (or "minimalist European urban electronic folk music" as he called it) album made almost completely with synthesizers and drum machines with only a couple of songs having the occasional bass or piano part. I think it is a great record and it still sounds quite "modern" as the saying goes. It has a very unique vibe to it and if you are a fan of this kind of music it is a must have record in my opinion.
